Components of A Warm-Up
There are three main elements to a warm-up, these include-
Whole Body Stretching-
Whole body stretching is a very important aspect to prepare your body for a game of sport. In soccer all muscles are used, as it is a sport that requires a large amount of running, although the leg muscles are used the most, as players to be able to kick the ball effectively.
Running a few laps of the field would warm up the body, and doing a few laps while dribbling a soccer ball at your feet would help a lot as well. This should be coupled with stretching the major muscles.
Stretching Major Muscles and Groups-
The main muscles that you would need to focus on are in the legs, but it is also important to warm up other parts of your body too. A soccer player needs to spend the most time stretching their legs, but also spend time stretching the stomach, arms, and neck.
It is absolutely vital that important muscles are stretched effectively in order to prepare the players for the game. An example of a good stretch that would incorporate the whole body would be sitting straight, with your legs out in front, and touching both toes. This is a great stretch for soccer as it is warming up your stomach muscles and arms, but most of all it is stretching out your hamstrings. It is really important to stretch your hamstrings before playing soccer, to avoid any injuries.
Activity Using Equipment-
After warming up their body soccer players would probably do some exercises using the ball. This would involve trapping and passing, and some toe taps. This is an important aspect as not only does it warm up the player, but it also prepares them for the game ahead.
